Equine Therapy

Girl riding horse with helmet | Midwest Medical Billing Service New equine therapy

An article in the Omaha World Herald noted the strides equine therapy is making.

Equine therapy is used for PTSD, autistic children, special need individuals, sexually abused children and adults. Many PTSD veterans were not responding to normal mental health therapy that was available. Equine therapy has opened a new door to mental health with our veterans.

Midwest Medical Billing Service has lobbied many times in hopes to have a specific CPT code added but has hit a stone wall by those that do not understand that this therapy takes special training and should be designated with a higher reimbursement due to the time taken with this therapy and special training.

Midwest Medical Billing Service is hoping to see an increase in equine therapist and their reimbursement for services.
